email notifications stopped for @ mentions, replies

    Hi there! I hope you can help at least point me in the right direction. I assist with operations of a membership-based site that runs BuddyPress. Recently, the email notifications for @ mentions and replies on wall posts have stopped working, potentially after some updates were run (by the site owner). I cycled the “Notifications” setting in the BuddyPress settings to no avail. BuddyBoss theme folks gave us no help. If there is something I am missing somewhere, or a direction to look to troubleshoot, I would be ever so appreciative!!!!! Thank you in advance!!!!!

    I’m having the same problem. I think it may have come in with the recent update.

    I also would appreciate it if anyone knows how to fix it. 🙂

    Julia, are you also running BuddyBoss or any of the other plugins I listed by chance?

    Hi @pixelpushermama – interestingly, no I’m not using any of the other plugins, only BuddyPress 2.5.2 and
    bbPress 2.5.8

    I’ve found a few other recent posts here on the support forums reporting similar issues but have yet to find a fix.

    Hope someone can help us out soon. 🙂

    BuddyPress 2.5 made a lot of changes to how BuddyPress works with emails. We’ve been making incremental fixes and compatibility improvements in each release since, and we have v2.5.3 almost ready for sometime in the next couple of weeks or so.

    People still having problems could try running https://en-au.wordpress.org/plugins/bp-email-to-wp-mail-from-bridge/ to see if it helps, but we have other fixes in place for v2.5.3 that aren’t provided by this plugin.

    @djpaul Any news on this? That mail bridge plug in did not work for us. We are currently running WP 4.5.3 (I know there is an update available)
    BuddyPress Version 2.6.2
    BuddyPress Edit Activity 1.0.8
    BuddyPress Follow Version 1.2.2
    BuddyPress Forum Editor Version 1.0
    BuddyPress Global Search Version 1.1.4

    Along with
    bbPress 2.5.10
    BuddyBoss Wall Version 1.2.7
    BuddyBoss Media Version 3.1.9
    Along with Memberium and i2SDK

    These appear to be a few revisions beyond when we asked originally and it is still not functioning.
    It has been several months since we have had an operational email notification capability,which is a problem for us, running a paid site we need full functionality. Can you reccomend anything to try or anyone we should consult with?

    @pixelpushermama @julia_B did you fix this, or is it still a problem?

    I just upgraded from BuddyPress 2.3.4 to 2.7.4 (WP 4.7.1) but now we seem to have a problem with the mentions. Users used to get an notification-email when they were mentioned in the comments on one of our sites. That doesnt happen anymore. But the emails from private messages or replies on activity-updates do work…
