Enable BP_ENABLE_ROOT_PROFILES & Normal Profile Pages

    Hi All

This is my first time posting.

Thank you for the great plugin and everything you provide to the community.

I have what I think is an ODD question.

I know how to enable BP_ENABLE_ROOT_PROFILES and I use them on most of my BP installations.

I have a scenario where I would like to enable BP_ENABLE_ROOT_PROFILES and I would like to keep the normal profile routing as well.

This step is part of a larger picture where I hope to create custom templates for the /name routing and keep the standard templates on the /member/name routing.

Is this possible in a simple way?
If so, how could I enable it?

Thanks in advance for your input on this.

I am using the latest versions of all WP and BP.

    Christopher

    Hi Christopher,

I’ve not seen this done before probably because of the issues it would create with reference to duplicate content.

That’s not to say it isn’t possible but my guess is it won’t be easy.

    Thank you for your feedback.

    Let me ask this.

Assume that I wanted to modify what was shown on that page – mysite.com/username – what file would I access to make those modifications?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

That page is made up of template parts but you would start by editing your-child-theme/buddypress/members/single/index.php. If the file doesn’t exist you will need to create it. For more information check out the Template Hierarchy article
