error message accessing BP setting. do I have a virus?

    When attempting to access BP setting such as Component setup, Forums setup and Profile field setup, I get error message-

    ‘You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.’

    All platforms updated to most recent versions. Minimal plugins. Using WP theme w BP template pack, which has been working fine until today with the most recent WP upgrade.

    Had a lot of spams in BP groups, including some new groups created by spammers. Deleted all spam subscribers and all spam comments. But now the legitimate groups do not show, plus BP settings give error “permissions” message.

    Do I have a virus???

    Permissions errors more often appear with incomplete auto-upgrades. Manually upload via FTP/cpanel WordPress files and all plugins you have recently upgraded. Clear cache.
