Error upgrading to 2.8.x

  • brokenmachine

I have tried this with Both 2.8.0 and 2.8.1, every time i upgrade (or install for that matter) I get this error:
Fatal error: Class ‘BP_Core_Sort_By_Key_Callback’ not found in /home/ieadmin/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-functions.php on line 126

I deactivated and moved all plugins, switched to the 2017 theme. No luck. I even edited that file to put back the changed code from 2.7.4

The only thing I could do was upload the file: class-bp-core-sort-by-key-callback.php

Everything *Seems* top be working. but i am at a loss for why it did that, and should further updates remove this file i’ll be back to adding it.

The file (and class) exists in 2.7.4 but not in 2.8.0. I’ll ask over at Slack and report back.

I just spoke with Boone, he suggested a reinstall of BuddyPress is needed because it looks as though your upgrade didn’t complete properly. bp-core-functions.php shouldn’t contain a reference to the BP_Core_Sort_By_Key_Callback class because the class was removed in 2.8.0.
