Excluding roles from BP statistic functions

We want to use bp_member_statistics and some of the other built in functions for counting and custom loops but it doesn’t seem like leaving out site admins (based on role) is straight forward..
Could all of these functions gain a &role parameter, for example, that offers more convenient filtering than ‘&exclude’ offers?
