Existing blog doesn't show up in BuddyPress

I’ve been running WPMU 2.8.4a and last week I installed BuddyPress 1.0.3. Overall it’s been running great and I’m very impressed, but there’s one little glitch: One of the blogs is missing from BuddyPress!

When you go to the Blogs Directory in BuddyPress, it won’t show up there either by clicking on the letter it begins with or searching for it. I can find one of the blog authors in the Member Directory but when you go to her member page it will say she “hasn’t created any public blogs yet.” But it is a public blog.

We have a lot of blogs and I haven’t noticed that problem with any other one. I suppose I could export the blog’s information, delete it and recreate it. Is there an easier way to get BuddyPress to recognize that blog?

  • Try toggling public/private on that blog setting on and off. Something else is to make a test post on that blog (and see if that refreshes the BuddyPress display or not).

    Thanks!

I followed both your steps and I saw the post I created in my activity stream and I now see the blog in the blog directory.

Except … if I go to the blog author, it still says she hasn’t created any public blogs, but I see three of her posts from that blog when I click on the Recent Posts link. So it hasn’t totally connected her with the blog yet.

Now the blog isn’t showing up in the blog directory again. I’ve also found another blog that’s not showing up there either. Yet, on both, if you go to their profile, some of their recent posts are showing up under the Recent Posts link in blogs, even though under Blogs it’ll say they haven’t created any public blogs.

Will post more details later on, but if anyone else has seen anything similar and/or have a solution, I’d be grateful. Thanks.

I get this problem as well.

Installed WPMU 2.8.4 > blogs working fine > installed latest BP > existing blogs do not show up.

Under User Blgogs’ it says …. user “hasn’t created any public blogs yet”. When obviously they have.

I have tried toggling on and off privacy and that does not make any difference.

Buddypress is 1.1.2 – Theme is default Buddypress theme.

However, if I make a new blog, that blog *IS* shown in the ‘user’s blog’ list.

Can anyone tell me where in the database this information is held and so, perhaps, I can hand edit for old blogs?

    Thanks.

Has the owner of one of these blogs logged into the (BuddyPress) site since you installed buddyPress?

Yes. Logged in and posted. Posts show, blogs don’t.

The only way to fix it is to delete the older blogs and remake them manually.

Of course, for some crappy reason, WordPress does not actually export a complete archive when you use the admin ‘Export’ function.

This means the fixing a lot of details manually, e.g. Links/blogroll are not archived and all image addresses need to be corrected individually.
