BuddyPress.org

Hey Guys,

I’ve spent the last couple of days Googling and trying to solve a BuddyPress problem but I’m admitting defeat and hoping one of you guys can help me out.

I’ve recently rolled out a BuddyPress enabled theme to a WordPress install that has about 1300 existing WordPress users. All these users can login and can use the activity stream but BuddyPres is having issues when it comes to viewing individual activity and editing their profiles. New users don’t have this trouble.

I think it has something to do with profiles not being synced or something along those lines cause the URLs of existing WordPress users come with spaces in the URLs. e.g. I was an existing user and I’ve got this URL http://edgeqld.org.au/members/Bronson%20Quick/ rather than http://edgeqld.org.au/members/bronsonquick/

I’m guessing it has something to do with what JJJ has described here:

I’ve tried playing around with some of the constants listed here: http://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/changing-internal-configuration-settings/ but I haven’t had any success.

I’ve changed some of the slugs as follows:

`define ( ‘BP_XPROFILE_SLUG’, ‘info’ );
define( ‘BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT’, ‘info’ );
define ( ‘BP_BLOGS_SLUG’, ‘blogs’ );
define( ‘BP_MEMBERS_SLUG’, ‘members’);`

One example of a link that’s not working would be the edit profile link:

http://edgeqld.org.au/members/Bronson%20Quick/info/edit/ should link to http://edgeqld.org.au/members/Bronson%20Quick/info/edit/group/1 but when I click it it redirects to the homepage. I know that this is what BuddyPress is designed to do when either a template file is missing or it can’t resolve a URL.

I’m on WordPress 3.2.1 and I’m using BuddyPress 1.2.9.

Any suggestions, pointers or help would be greatly appreciated! Taa muchly!
