Facebook Like button for BuddyPress

Hi, I’m using BuddyPress v1.5.1 with the Frisco theme. I would simply like to add a Facebook like button to the footer of my site. I have searched the Plugins directory but would like to hear from other users who may have implemented this feature already.

You could get facebooks like code and paste it into footer.php file

What @modemlooper said, definitely the easiest and simplest way to do it, but if you want to integrate with certain activities, posts etc, try: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-share-it
However, this doesn’t exclude anything, which means EVERY activity can be posted.

now, if only you could combine the awesome Buddypress extras from etivite: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-activity-stream-extras/ then you’d have a killer combo

Thanks both – I had assumed that pasting the code in directly would probably be the best way. And yes, that would be a killer combo!!

One question, I see that on the Facebook like wording for the HTML5 scripts it says: “Include the JavaScript SDK on your page once, ideally right after the opening tag.”

You then use the “<div class="fb-like"" etc where ever you want the button to show.

As I am using a child theme does the above still apply?
