Which version of BP are you using?
There is no such file in the current version of BP – 2.4.0

No, I custom edited my BP and specifically DID NOT update so that I could continue to use this. Now my site is down because somehow something updated itself without my permission to do so.
Now I have tried removing BP core and it is saying that “private buddy press” is not functioning

Since nobody knows what you did, how can anyone answer your questions?
In order to maybe get answers, you will need to provide access to your installation.
Nah, no biggie. Ditching the site since it was customized too long ago.
Not sure what updated and it has been too long since I went though the torture of trying to customize it. HAHA! No one uses the site (family site) anymore anyway.
Ehh, was just trying to see if there was a quick and possibly easy fix but it’s not worth the work or trouble for anyone else.
