Field Type “Date Selector” Is Not In Proper Format

Hello everybody! I want to add a new field, Date of Birth to my buddypress network. I chose Date Selector/Picker as my field type. It is showing 3 text boxes in the live; 1st text box for choosing the day (say 1 to 31), 2nd text box for choosing the month and the last text box for choosing the year.
What I want is, I want the date selector control should be upgraded to modern control. I don’t like 3 text boxes and you know, the 1st text box’s size is too wide which does not make any sense.. Please suggest me some ways to improve this particular control in UI.
