I am having an issue with Buddy Press in that all the links work fine accept the forum button, I can a page not found error. I have tried removing WordPress/Buddy Press and reinstalling again but I get the same issue again. The strange thing is that if I install WordPress/Buddy Press in a sub directory then everything seems to work fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I’ve been doing this for 2 days now and it is driving me nuts.

Just as a sanity check you’ve set to use forums and you’ve gone through their set up process?

Perhaps resaving your permlinks ‘could’ also help? I’m thinking maybe you have a plugin or something that is also interfering but take it you’ve tried using the default BuddyPress theme and / or removing plugins to see?

I have the same problem. I’m using site wide forum and installed bbpres as mentioned in the the forum settings. Than I added one forum “general”…just to test

It seems to install fine and I can adress the forum from the admin with the view forum-link

BUT forum doesn’t appear in the menu. I’m a buddypress newbie and tried now for several days…but no success. I have to mention that I disabled all other plugins and that I tried also with the default bp theme with the same result.

oki…It works now…It’s kind of magic, since I don’t know exactly what it made work….

– first I added [bbp-forum-index] to the forum page.
– than I changed the forum slug in the settings to ‘discuss¨
– I added also a Forums base “forums” in the setting

a nice tutorial to setup forums correctly from a more experienced bp user would be very helpful…
