Forum sign-up causing 404 error page not found

When a participant logs out of forums on our website using bbpress, they get this message

Error 404 – Page not found!
The page you are trying to reach does not exist, or has been moved. Please use the menus or the search box to find what you are looking for.when people log out they should just get the forum page which asks them to supply the username and password, shouldn’t they and not an error message…I thought it would just take forum users back to the page where they enter their information. Any help? What is wrong?
this is when someone is logging in on the website and then pushes the log-out button on the website
bbpress is installed as a plug-in on our website
