Forums: Can't create topic error message
-
Hi
Wordpress 3.5.1; BP 1.7 Beta1, Commons in a Box [and so bbPress 2.2]; dev2.consumersfederation.org.au
I followed this guide: http://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
I am attempting to set up Sitewide and Group Forums.
Sitewide forums are successfully working.Group forums are not working. The forum menu DOES appear (no problem). But
a. cannot create a new topic within the forum [error message “There was an error when creating the topic”
b. Can create a new topic from Dashboard/Forums/Group Forums/Forum name – but this topic is not listed as a topic under Group name/Forum on the front end.I wondered if it was the setting at BuddyPress pages – Forums: It is [now] set to the same page as bbPress ie the page Forums which has the bbPRess forum index shortcode
I have checked this support forum response: http://buddypress.org/support/topic/error-in-creating-topic/ and can advise in relation to the three suggested checks/actions
1. Yes bb-Config.php has been created
2. There is no (longer?) an information about 7 xxx tables as per that thread. Instead the referenced page ( http://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/#bbpress-forums-tables-in-database ) resolves to http://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/#b-set-up-group-and-sitewide-forums3. I didn’t quite get all the suggestions at the links provided but I did
“Go to Group->Admin->settings and disable the forum, then save and then re-enable it, does that help ?” which didn’t fix it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
