Getting an error showing up on the buddypress navigation bar

I am receiving this error when running buddy press on my site: “Fatal error: Cannot access empty propety in /home/content/73/6933873/html/wp-content/buddypress/bp-members-notifications.php on line 76” I had buddypress running smoothly for a while. I am not certain what triggered this error, but I have deactivated all of my other plugins in hopes of figuring out what is causing the problem, with no luck. There is no obvious syntax errors in the file mentioned in the warning. Other than that I am not certain what I should be looking for. Can anyone offer some advice on diagnosing this error?
