Group api new tab template file?

hi, I extended the group steps/tabs using the api that buddypress provides in it’s documentation and everything is working perfectly except for one thing, when i click the tab i created the page loads a different template than the one i have in my theme/groups/single/home.php.
Why does this happen?, how can i prevent it?, what template is it loading?
