group creation error: Are you sure you want to do this?

    @anointed

    I have a fresh install and was able to create my first group without problems.

    Now when I go to create a group, I get to the step where it says, add a forum and I click next.

    Normally, it would show me the screen to upload an avatar for the group, but now on that step, I do not see the avatar step. I only see ‘previous and next’ buttons.

    If I click next, I get a white page saying ‘Are you sure you want to do this?’ with a button to go back…

    I do not have any further plugins activated, and nothing changed between creating my first group and trying to create the second group.

    I did try deactivating buddypress and reactivating but that made no difference.

    How do I get around this error?

    also:

    I noticed the group gets created even though I don’t make it past that step. However you cannot post to the groups forums, as it spits out an error when making a post. It’s almost like the group creation is getting stuck somehow.

    I should also mention that there are no errors in any of the server logs, either system or php errors

  • I think this is mainly a cookies issue – if you clear you cookies and start again you might find it all works. Or try it in another browser. The ‘bp_new_group_id’ cookie didn’t go away until I deleted it using the options in firefox. The webdev toolbar did not get rid of it.

    Hi:
    I am running wp 3.1.1 and buddypress 1.28 in live beta. I am having what sounds like a similar problem. I can create groups fine, and post updates fine. Forums are turned on and enabled, including in the group checkbox.
    When I post a new topic, I get the “There was an error creating topic” and “There are no posts for this topic”. The url is …/groups/forum/topic// which looks suspicious to me. But then when I click on the Forum tab, all topics and groups are listed, but again, when I click on the topic title I get the “There are no posts for this topic” msg. The url is of the form … /groups/group-title/forum/topic/forum-title/.
    If I click on the Forum tab and then a group title, I am brought to the forum and it lists the topics and the url looks like …/groups/group-title/forum/, and I see the “Post a new topic” form. And again, when I click on the topic title I get the “There are no posts for this topic” msg. This time the url is of the form … /groups/group-title/forum/topic/topic-title/. When I again post a new topic, I get the “There was an error creating topic” and “There are no posts for this topic”. url is …/groups/group-title/forum/topic/topic-title/.
    If I click on My/Groups or on the group list in the sidebar I can post updates and replies Ok.

    So, everything seems to be there, but the navigation seems messed up and too confusing for anyone to use. Because this is still a beta site I tried deleting all groups/forums disabling them, deactivating most everything, including buddypress, and I have re-installed bbpress and the configure file is in the wp root dir. a few times. It is possible I installed a new bbpress one of those times instead of using the existin bbpress that came with buddypress. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
