The BuddyPress Group Forums are currently not displaying properly due to some xmlrpc encoding and decoding weirdness. This is fixes the escape characters being displayed when quotes are entered.

Such as “this is a quote”

and also it’s not normal.

Paragraph and line breaks are being stripped as well.

On the bbPress side the text going to bbPress gets encoded for transport but it isn’t being decoded on that side before it gets stored in the db. Since my skills weren’t up to finding a way to decode them before they got stored, I created this plugin that runs on the bbPress side that decodes them before the post text is displayed.

Hopefully we won’t need these things shortly and we can just trash them.

These two plugins are just temporary workarounds until the powers that be

get time to address these issues.

Below, you’ll find a download link that has a buddypress plugin and a bbpress plugin to fix these two issues. No core file mods needed.

I am seeing this issue on a new install… I would have thought it would be fixed in the core by now?
