Groups editing not saving

    @teratoma

I have set up a fake social network – that is, a WP/BP site made up of fictional characters – for a project I’ve been working on for several years.

Everything has worked splendidly for my purposes, and I’ve been able to customize the site using plugins and my knowledge of css & php.

Except for today, when I tried to experiment with the ‘groups’ feature.

I am able to create a group, and add a group photo and cover, but when I try to add members or change group status, it bounces me to the Groups list page, and doesn’t maintain my edits. Meaning I can’t add my fictional members to my fictional group.

    it’s at http://Rickey-Rat.com

I have exactly the same problem. Someone can help?

    Thanks,
    Max

+1 with BP 2.3.1. My 2.2+ sites do not have this issue. I’ve enabled the WP 2015 theme and deactivated all plugins except BP.

More info: This also happens in WP Admin. Adding members and changing privacy settings dont save.

I can confirm what indicated above from colabsadmin. Same behaviour for the admin part as well.

There is no BP 2.3.1 version. Are you using trunk?

    afaik…
Group privacy settings can be changed on the front end via the Group > Manage > Settings screen
Adding members can only be done via wp-admin

Can one or more of you turn on WP debugging and check your error log?

    Hello @shanebp,

colabsadmin is right, 2.3.1 exists and has been released three hours ago.

For the moment I just can confirm that, as you suggested, I tested Group Privacy settings by front-end and this is working fine.

Adding members to groups from wp-admin is not working at all. I believe all the changes in the wp-admin done to groups (for the moment I tested add members and change privacy settings) are not committed to the DB.

I will provide the error logs as soon as possible.

    Thanks,
    Max

    This is working for me.

If you have any error logs, that would be great.

    Sorry, didn’t see recent release.
I’ve installed 2.3.1 and cannot duplicate the issue.

2.3.1 is not working for me as well.

I got those two errors after enabling the debug logs, will this help?

Its a plugin conflict with BP Cover Photo. It works with older versions of BP. I’ll notify the plugin developers about it.

    Thanks a lot.

I can confirm I disabled BP Cover Photo plugin and now I can properly administrate the Group from the back-end.

This can’t be the final solution of course, but since Cover Photo is not mandatory at the development stage for my project it is a very good workaround for me!

Good work! Indeed, as indicated in my op, I am using the Cover Photo plugin too. And until this gets sorted, disabling it while editing my groups is easy enough.

    Thanks!

Is there any forecast about a new releases compatible with the Cover Photo plugin?

    Thanks
    Max

    @shanebp

The plugin needs to be compatible with BuddyPress, not vice versa.
You should contact the plugin author and make that request.
