Hi. I’m the guy.
I would note the fact that he states that the CEO issued personal apology and reimbursement for the migration issue, thats seems like at least they took the issue seriously at some point.
Only after it reached the front page of Hacker News (they didn’t really seem too fussed otherwise). My favourite part is where Jason Cohen — not having read my rant at all — called me “bitter and hateful” and a “hater” on Twitter.
WP Engine is the only company that provides both phone support and specialized wp hosting as far i know.
The phone support was as useless as the email support. I know, because I stayed up late for several nights. My favourite part is that my sites would go down most of the damn time, I would ring and I’d press the number to get urgent after-hours-on-call-right-away-sir support … and nobody would answer. You know what my favourite sound is? Two minutes of ringtone on an international call.
This happened several times.
It is also the only hosting company i know that Automattic is financially involved in, to me that means something
Argumentum ad verecundiam is no guarantee of good service, as I discovered.
aside from any deal killing kind of quirks is the best platform
My “deal-killing quirk” was believing their marketing copy: that they could migrate and host mainline code, including multisite. They couldn’t.
@ubernaut :
“In my experience the notion of a perfect host is a canard….but WPE aside from any deal killing kind of quirks is the best platform you could be hosted on”
O_o
So there is no perfect host… and WPE is that host.
Got it.
And anyone who has a host that provides better servers, better tech support and cheaper rates is what? lying?
oookeeee
I suppose we’ll have to agree to disagree then
🙂
Gentlemen, I’m going to close this topic. Thank you all for your feedback. There are alternative hosting solutions for WP/BP installations.
