Hackers Getting In….

    I have been using bbpress and buddypress on my website as a test of usability. I have it ticked so that new users can create accounts, BUT, I must approve them before they become active. I have had a few hackers circumvent this, and create a user account, AND activate it. How are they doing this, and how do I stop it?

    Have you installed BP Registration Options and set it to moderate? If you’ve done that no-one should get in without you approving them.

    AAAAAHHHHHHHH! NOW I see where I was thinking incorrectly. I was ‘thinking’ that the bbpress moderation tool that I was using would handle this, but after your redirection, I see where I was incorrect. I will install and activate BP Registration Options at once. THANKS!!!

    Ah great! Glad that one is solved. It’s only half of the solution though. These bots will still plague your site with registration requests. To get rid of those try https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-google-recaptcha/ thi sworked like a treat on my sites, totally eliminating spam bot registrations (for now…).

    Thanks!! Will do! I really like buddypress and bbpress, just gotta get a handle on the trouble makers. ????????
