@ubiq00 WP/BP versions? What theme are you using?
Oh, I didn’t mention it. All recent versions. WP 3.9.1 BP 2.0.1
First I start with Salient theme, but it didn’t work. Then, I tried with others Twenty Something and other free themes that support Buddypress.
I’m considering other major theme that supports BP, but I’m holding before this problem is solved. I just want to see any one of my pages on my site shows sitewide activity stream without log-in.
So, there’s no one out there to help with this problem?
Please, HELP!
@ubiq00 Thank you for your patience. We are all volunteers here living in different time zones.
After activating BuddyPress, you need to go to admin menu Settings > BuddyPress where there are different panels – Components, Pages, and Settings – to help you configure your community settings. Did you do that already? https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/configure-components/
If it still doesn’t work, where are you hosted – locally or online webhost?
@mercime I’m always thankful of you guys’ efforts…really.
I’m just too frustrated maybe…so pls understand.
Configuring all the settings, I’ve done all kinds of things including the one here.
Deleting all plugins, themes and reinstalling them several times.
Try other themes, too.
I don’t think it’s a theme problem, since I found it still doesn’t work on the themes that supports BP.
And, I’m using web-host.
I’m considering even reinstalling WP, and start all the way back at the beginning if it helps.
I’ve tried BP shortcode plugin, and succeeded to show the stream on a page but it was just a stream without post box and other components.
I’m not trying to make it looks the way I intended.
I’m just trying to see the ACTIVITY STREAM on somewhere in my site.
Also, I found Members, Groups, Register…all pages comes out “blank”.
Pls, help……..
@mecime I’m in Korea. Using one of Korean Hosting Companies.
If that’s the problem, I must contact the company and ask if it’s possible, then.
And I’ll come back.
Thank you.
@ubiq00 Ask your hosting company if they can host BuddyPress installations and point them to the codex link above. You might need to upgrade as some shared hosting plans can’t handle BP.
Since you’re new to WordPress and BuddyPress, might I suggest before upgrading hosting plans, that you test WordPress/BuddyPress via local install through XAMPP https://make.wordpress.org/core/handbook/installing-a-local-server/installing-xampp/
@mercime I’ve contacted the hosting company, and they’ll return in no time.
BTW, I happen to turn on debugging option in wp-config.php, and tried to go to my site.
Then, I’ve got this message on the top of home page.
Notice: bp_setup_current_user was called incorrectly. The current user is being initialized without using $wp->init().
I guess this relates to the problem…But I don’t know where to look at and fix it.
What do you think?
@mercime Update. My host said that memory limit on php.ini is its maximum 128M. And, I tried wp-config.php, .htaccess. But, still getting blank page.
……
Another update.
I tried Twenty Twelve theme to see if same message comes up.
Still getting blank page, but no message comes up.
Now, I’m really really confused…..
