Host: minimum memory?

  • Hi,

I’m running several WordPress websites for customers and I recently discovered BuddyPress. I tried to install it on my old hosting solution at 1and1.

The installation got right until the very last step: I got the famous “Out of memory” problem. Since then I’ve been looking for a new hosting solution but couldn’t find out how much memory I’m suppose to choose (is 64 M enough?).

    Thanks for your help!

  • It depends on what you have running on your site – themes, plugins, number of users, caching – and how they all interact. I would suggest 64Mb is a safe minimum, but get one that lets you go up to 96Mb+ just in case.

@Paul: Thanks for the answer. French hosts offering such amount of memory are either small companies with lack of confidence or big expensive plans. Then I’ve been looking for affordable US hosting solutions and I think of Media Temple or BlueHost.

Could someone give me the keys to make a great choice?

    Thanks !

    Hello there…

    1. is “Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 50331648 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 77 bytes) in /var/www/web1079/html/com/blog/wp-includes/pomo/mo.php on line 221? the same problem (“Blank Pages” Problem?!?)

    2. Okay my admin increase limit from 8 to 64 ! Then it works…
