Hotmail always seems to put my activation emails in spam. I don’t appear on any blacklists. Anything

    Hi guys,

I’ve checked out over half a dozen sites for my server’s IP being blacklisted and it isn’t on any lists at all.

However Hotmail insists on placing my activation emails in Junk.

Anything I can do about this?

    Ross :)

Here’s quite a comprehensive list of links to help you troubleshoot:

EDIT: that’s actually a rather old thread. This is probably better: http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx :-)

I’ve mentioned this quite a few times on this support forum, if you want to get emails through to the more annoying of the email services out there you must ensure you have a RDNS entry PTA record and also an SPF entry for you domain hotmail is failing to be able to check these two records and thus considering mail from your server to be spam.

One thing this isn’t is a problem with BP or WP it’s about server and domain configuration.

    Thanks so much guys!

I’m researching it now and have just got a support ticket logged with my host!

Will let you know how I get on!

    Ross :)

@hnla My host has just set domain keys and SPF records for my account which is great but I can’t seem to find info on a PTA record. Could you give me some more info?

    Cheers :)

Ask your host to ensure your domain has a RDNS record for the server

    Hi again!

A week almost after my host set my domain keys, SPF records and RDNS was confirmed for my IP, my emails are still hitting junk folders in Hotmail and GMail.

Has anyone else experienced this and managed to remedy it?

I’m thinking maybe it’s a case of just perservering and waiting to see if my domain’s reputation increases with hotmail when found to not be sending junk mail???
