How can I get the normal wordpress user profile editable fields?

I am customising the buddypress member profile page. I need the user to be able to edit his first name and last name, yet these fields aren’t in the edit.php profile page. How do I get the field and make in in an input and save to the database? Hope that makes sense, I just want the user to be able to edit his first and last name.

If you mean the first and last names in wp-admin user settings, then you have to create a script to call those as BP xprofile fields has its own settings. Otherwise, you can create First Name field and Last Name field in User > Profiles panel https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/configure-buddypress-components/#users-profile-fields
