how change the text of new friend request notification w/out editing the core file

Hi,
I trying to change the You have # pending friendship requests text in adminbar, but I know that not advisable to edit the core file.

Can any one help me please to change that text.

Any help is so very appreciated, thanks.

Have a look at https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/ — a little complicated to understand how to do it the first time, but recommended.

@jho1086 Yes, this definitely the recommended solution. I would aslo recommend using PoEdit to help you through this process: http://www.poedit.net/

Depends where/how the string is in the code. Give it a go, otherwise you’ll need to add afilter and customise the string that way with a few lines of code.
