How do i add new topics in the forum?

Hi there. Where do i add topics to the forum?? Can’t find anything in the admin-area ;-/ … When i hit the button “New Topic” in the forum-page, nothing happens!
It’s a standard install/default theme, BP 1.6.1 in Subdirectory= /forum/forums/
Wordpress installation: /forum/
WP 3.4.2Do i need to do a ROOT installation?
