How do I customise the BuddyPress email notifications?

Hello there,

I use BuddyPress to manage an internal company network which discusses commercially confidential information. BuddyPress is perfect for this as general email correspondence isn’t secure/organised enough for us …however, when there is any activity on the network the member is notified of it by general email. The notification by email is great and we require this but would like NOT to include the full details of the activity (ie: contents of a Private Message etc). Can these email notifications, particularly, PM’s be edited to delete the “contents” of the PM’s?

Hi again, I haven’t been able to progress from here in the last week. I would have thought this would be a common question?? Perhaps I’m missing something obvious as nobody has replied to my original question above.

Could someone please help to steer me down the right track? …I’m looking to edit the content of the notification emails for BuddyPress activity like PM’s etc… simply, I just want to delete the content of PM so it doesn’t show within the email notification…

@shaunokeefe, i think this plugin can handle what you want : https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/welcome-pack/ . it will give you ability to edit email notification content. you can try it and see how it goes.

Thanks very much @naijaping. I’m sorry for the very late reply… I hadn’t received one on this question for a while and thought the system would notify me when I did. I will check this plugin to see if it will work for what I need.

hello shaunokeefe, were you able to modify the buddypress email notification settings for the group email? The plugin “welcome pack” only has options to modify for the “personal messages” though I didnt get it to work.

This plugin does modify ALL WP & BP emails:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/welcome-email-editor/

Try it out and see if it resolves your issue. 🙂
