How is it possible to sign up with the same user name?

    I was surprised to see that BP allows users to sign up using the same username,this should not be possible.

    This shouldn’t be possible. BuddyPress checks if a username exists before registering the user.

    Just to be sure we are talking about the same username. It is the BP name under “Profile Details”, not the WP user name under “Account details”?

    I am able to register the same name twice here.

    The “Name” field isn’t unique. You can have 2 users with the same name if we are talking about that field.

    Yes, it is the “Name” field I am referring to, which also is the basis for search options, that is why I am surprised it is not unique.
