    Hi

I would like to change the main headings on the registration pages (Create an Account, Check Your Mail to Activate Account, and Account Activated). Can anyone help please?

I have managed to change the content of these pages by copying members/register.php to my child theme and editing the wording (the original files being in buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/register.php) but the main page headings aren’t included in this register.php file.

    I’m stuck!

    many thanks for your help
    Mariette

The best way is to use a customized language file. More info…
It may seem complicated, but once you’ve gone thru the process you’ll probably find it helpful for other situations.

Ah, OK. I’ll give that a go. Thanks for the tip.

    Hello again
I tried following the instructions in the link you gave but it seems this is now out of date. There is no bp-languages folder (it seems this changed since BuddyPress 2.1) – see https://buddypress.org/support/topic/buddypress-2-1-bp-language/
Would it be possible to update these instructions or perhaps advise me what to do?
    many thanks
    Mariette

Your po/mo files should be added to this path (create it if it doesn’t exist):

wp-content/languages/plugins/buddypress-xx_XX.mo (where xx is the lang ISO code) For english, en_EN or en_US…

If you need more details how translation are working, search for “translation” or “language” on the forum.

Be carefull and keep a copy of these files localy ! 😉

    Hi

Just thought I’d share that this method worked for me, although I used the ending en_GB.

I didn’t have any experience of this before and I thought this info might someone else in that situation:

In the .po file you add your ‘translation’ in the msgstr line, eg:

    msgid “Create an Account”
    msgstr “Apply for Membership”

Probably obvious to most people but not to me…!

And you can generate a .mo file here:

    http://po2mo.net/

    Thanks for your help danbp.
    all the best

I’m not sure if I should start a new thread about this. All was going well with the translation but I don’t seem to be having any luck with this phrase (line 5561 onwards in the orignal buddpress.pot file):

    #: bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/activate.php:16
    msgid “”
“Your account was activated successfully! You can now log ”
    “in
with the username and password you provided when you signed up.”
    msgstr “”

If I add my own phrase in the msgstr “” line, nothing changes.

I’m just wondering if it is OK that the original phrase is underneath the msgid “” line rather than within the quote marks?

Or is there something else I am doing wrong?

many thanks again for your time.
