How to COMPLETELY delete, reset or reinstall Buddypress, please!

    Hi everyone!

    It’s been a couple of WEEKS now of vain research and attempts…

    I want to install a completely new – virgin, so to say – Buddypress.

    The problem is everytime i install it again it “remembers” the unwanted changes i first did and now i want to disappear.

    This is what i’ve done and seems not to fully work (http://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-site-administration/deleting-buddypress/):

    1/ Change to another theme than Buddypress.
    2/ Deactivate Buddypress plugin.
    3/ Delete it from Network admin (and make sure it exists no more in directory).
    4/ Deleting wp-bp tables.
    5/ I’ve got lots of wp_options tables (one for each blog in the network) but none contains such files as these:
    * bp-db-version (for BuddyPress 1.5)
    * _bp_db_version (as of BuddyPress 1.6)
    * bp-active-components
    * bp-blogs-first-install
    * bp-deactivated-components
    * bp-disable-account-deletion
    * bp-disable-avatar-uploads
    * bp-disable-blogforum-coments
    * bp-disable-profile-sync
    * bp-pages
    * bp-xprofile-base-group-name
    * bp-xprofile-fullname-field-name

    Could someone please help me?

    == it “remembers” the unwanted changes i first did and now i want to disappear. ==

    – What unwanted changes?
    – Do you have a bp-custom.php file in your plugins directory? Did you back up and delete that?
    – Do you have bb-config.php file in the root of your WP installation (where you’ll find the wp-config.php file)? Did you also backup and delete that as well?

    See the xx_bb_xx (BP group forums) and xx_bp_xx (B)) in single and WP multisite DB’s at the bottom of this page https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/3/
    – backup your database and delete tables

    I’m also having the same problem, I want to install Buddypress fresh like it was the first time…but it has my settings saved that can’t be changed. I accidentally routed the “Register” button somewhere else, and now nobody can register.

    I just need to know how to completely reinstall Buddypress, any help would be great! Thanks!

    @djpaul If you’re going to close my other topic, would I be able to at least get an answer about this? Great plugin, I just can’t use it.

    Go to dashboard menu BuddyPress > Pages and look for the page you associated with Register before and select it then save.

    If you really want to start from scratch, go to the link linkfr posted in post above and my response.

    I’m guessing that people are not following all the instructions on that page? At the end there is mention of removing the wp-options entries, it’s these that will be re-entering certain values.

    @mercime Thanks for the help, but there is no page assocosiated with with Register, I’ve tried what you explained many times but the problem stems from the original settings screen.

    Although I’m reluctant, I guess I’ll give the first method a try. I just thought there would be an easier way to reinstall it.

    Thanks again!
