How to exclude elements from functions

Does anyone know how to exclude elements from functions?
I would like to use the Members Only plugin with Buddypress, but want to prevent it from applying to the pages on my site. Am wondering how to modify the functions to ensure this.
Also, I don’t want the exclusion code to prevent the other functions of BP from functioning properly.
