how to have comment and replies collapse and expand.
-
I have buddypress with just one activity stream, I want to have it so that replies will be collapsed until a user clicks on it to read the threads. Can someone help me please?
My page is very long and hard for people to find the comments they want to read.

Thanks, im not quite 21 yet but i definitely appreciate the gesture.
I thought you looked really young but in Australia you are allowed to drink when you are 18.
Well i’ll definitely consider heading that way one day, but i’ll be long past 21 before i do.
Please I feel this script very interesting, but I can’t make it work. It just don’t display comments.
help please.
thank you in advance.Very cool !!! for sure will try to implement that , thanks Timothy !
@phoenon I can confirm that code works well. you should check your step by step implementation.
Hi, first thanks for the help.
I’m just trying to implement first in a local apache server and make it work before upload to my server. Maybe I could upload for you to see what is happening…
What I’m specting is, the “show comments” java button is there, but when I press it it just swaps to “hide comments” but comments are not visible.
I should mention I’m working with jet-skinner-for-buddypress plugin. Maybe this is the problem.
I will try firebug later since now I’m at work.
Thank you guys!Edit I just tried firebug and seems to be everything right. don’t mind why is this happening.
I’m not sure why it’s not working correctly for you.
Without any error details to work with, I would need a link to your site to inspect the problem.OK. but as I said I’m doing test on a localhost server before uploading…so I would like to know when you can take a look for upload header and entry.php files for you to check. Maybe you could email me or something (just for avoiding keep the web with the issue) and as the register ir required I could also disable that feature.
My email is phoenon @hotmail.com , and This, is the link.
Thank you again boss!Sorry but I won’t be able to establish an accurate solution by just looking at the header and entry.php file. Once you have the site uploaded and publicly visible (meaning that im not redirected to a login page on every page of your site) I might be able to help.
Oh sorry I think you have misunderstood or I get you wrong.
you can now access, your stuff is online. Please take a look when you want.
You wont need to login anymore, thank you again dude.
link.
edit:
I just solved. There seems to be a problem with buddypress copy/paste system. I just “retyped” the code, and it’s working like a charm. Thank you for your time.
– Reactivated private site –Glad it’s working for you now. Buddypress does seem to alter code a bit.
Maybe you should package in a plugin, and have some donations, it’s very smart.
Thank you.Timothy,
I seem to be having a problem with my photo gallery it should allow multiple photo uploads and it used to but it now only allows one photo to upload at a time. I am just trying to troubleshoot the problem and was wondering if the code for collapsing could have had an effect?
Alice.Yea, I would but im working on multiple projects at the moment and nonetheless unfamiliar with bp codex. I mainly work with social networks api’s. (also didn’t take me long to do, so I don’t feel it’s worth compensation)
Hmm, Im unsure alice, since I don’t have a buddypress site of my own. So Im not aware of the photo gallery plugin code.
I can suggest commenting out the jquery in the header.php and if the problem persists then it isn’t the code I supplied.comment code: stop the code from running
right after the start script tag
`<!–`
and right before the closing tag
`–>`*Edited
I looked over the bp codex and it’s quite simple, I’ll have a functioning plugin available sometime tomorrow. That fixed it Timothy. This would make a great pluggin and you definitely should try to get some donations for it. I would have even bought your pluggin.
Alice. Please someone should help me out on my forum topic. Thanks
Actually it fixed the photos but broke the comments collapsing. grrrr.
What gallery plugin do you have installed @Aliceembroid?
I’m going to set up a test bp site, to test the new plugin, i’ll install them both and try to figure out the issue.@opatachibueze , I don’t see a problem with the posts content in the activity stream. Maybe you could give more detail on the topic.
Timothy it is bp galleries http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-gallery/
I am pretty sure I paid a membership to download the plugin though.
Alice.Ok alice, I made a few modification when developing this plugin, so once I am able to figure out how to submit it to wordpress it will be downloadable and we can see if the problem persists.
I am looking for a function like this on my site.
However when I look at AliceĀ“s site in Firefox and Safari all comments show below the “Show comments”??The code still works but, she just commented out the script for now @digte . alice reported a bug and I’m in the works of fixing it.
*edit : wordpress is reviewing the plugin now, not sure how long it will take but when it’s available i’ll let you know
Great work Timothy, what will the plugin be called?
