How to have default friends and groups

I have a need to give each new buddypress user two ‘Tom’ like users as friends and also put them in a group. There have been programatic ways discussed as how to do this but haven’t found a full solution. It occurs to me that maybe the id’s to the friends and group above could be added to the database so that they already listed as friends and no request/accept process has to take place. Is that possible? Any solutions gratefully accepted!
