How to improve performance of your website.?

Bp 1.1 beta + wpmu latest version

I have wp super cache installed.

I have compressed the css used in the websites using css compressors.

I know that Buddypress uses database tables to fetch user informations. Is there any other ways by which i can optimize my website.I have read about offloading and css sprites.

Any ideas how can i apply them with buddypress

You could try and install eaccelerator on the server.

Or, switch to a NginX server if you have the tech skills.

Thanks andy.. I have read that article that was quite informative and i already sticked to that.

I read somewhere that instead of using http://domain.com

we can use

http://v1.domain.com

http://v2.domain.com

as it will decrease the loading time..i was interested in this and needed a help as how can i move some files such as images or css to a subdomain.

You may try zlib compression. I gave a tutorial about it here: http://wpmu.org/dramatically-speed-up-wordpress-and-wpmu-load-times-with-this-simple-tip/

It improved my transfer speed by 3.5 times on my BuddyPress test installation.

I installed Zend eAccelerator on my server. Made a HUGE difference.
