How to make an exclusive website using buddypress?

Hi there, I’m making a music service for my college where musicians can find other musicians. I want people to only be able to register, however, with an @tufts.edu address. I then want a verification email to be sent for the user to receive. How do I do this?

It’s probably better to keep any conversation going on that orignal post.

buddypress.org is undergoing some maintenance and search/activity is hard to keep track of right now.
