How to rid registration page of sidebar (theme: Attitude)?

Hi.. please can I have some help with this one. My site uses BuddyPrees and the theme Attitude by ThemeHorse. The register page (see here) is causing confusion as some would-be users are filling in their proposed user credentials in the log-in fields in the sidebar. I need to suppress the sidebar on this register page.

The guidance I have found on-line is to edit the theme (better a child theme) to make the call to get_sidebar() conditional, such that it is omitted for the registration page.

However, my theme Attitude has an option to choose layout on a per page basis – in the control panel for that page I can override the default layout to ‘no sidebar’.The theme is doing conditional call to get_sidebar() depending on the page settings – nice! This works for all normal pages. However, this selection has no effect if the page is set as the BuddyPress register page. It appears that BuddyPress is doing its own thing here, despite the theme.

I have done various tests, including:
    (1) Deactivated all plugins except BuddyPress – no change
    (2) Set the BuddyPress registration page to none and put the shortcode [bbp-register] on the register page. In this case I get the no sidebar layout as selected for the page but only a minimal registration form without the extended core fields.

Advice please and thanks in anticipation.

WordPress v4.2.2 Not network; not sub-domain
    BuddyPress v2.2.3.1
    bbPress v2.5.7

I am now using the plugin Dynamic Widgets to hide the login widget on the register page.

This is not as good as hiding the sidebar, but does avoid the problem.
