    Please help – I am getting the deprecated error as well when someone adds a group, sends a private message, etc.. I have been following some of the fixes but none seem to work (or I’m doing it wrong). I keep seeing that it is fixed in v1.3 but where can I download v1.3? Below are the fixes I’ve found that have not resolved the issue. This is a show stopper problem we have to get fixed for our customer. Any help appreciated in advance:

    ———-Where is my php.ini? some hosts do not let you edit this if its a server and not a site fix

    If you took the time to read the error, you will see it is a setting in your Buddypress install that needs to be updated (wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core.php on line 562 ):
    If you would like to enable call-time pass-by-reference, you can set allow_call_time_pass_reference to true in your INI file in /home/content/88/7051988/html/effortlessenglishclub/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core.php on line 562”

    If you don’t know where you php.ini is, ask your host. Setting allow_call_time_pass_reference will prevent the error being generated (you could apply patches to your version of BuddyPress to fix the errors, but that is more involved).

    Thx for your help. I am trying to get the host to make the switch. I’ll update this post and explain what happens.

    OK editing the php.ini file is a little out of my league. My host won’t let me do it but if I understand the UNIX shell I can reinstall another ini (I have no idea how to do this) so I believe the patches root is the way to go for me. Can you recommend either someone who has successfully done this or a tutorial you or buddypress has for this? Also – when will the patched version be released? Thanks again for all your help!
