I am the 1% (My theme doesn't cooperate with BuddyPress)

I’m working with a new theme for my site, although I was told that it didn’t have native BuddyPress support, I never anticipated that it would be this bad.

My WordPress and BuddyPress installs are completely up-to-date. I’m also using bbPress, but that’s pretty much the extent of my plugins. The theme is called Conduit.

You can see the error it’s causing here: http://www.jrpgclub.com/beta/members (All of the data is getting pushed to the top of the page). I had a similar issue with custom excerpts in posts; when a paragraph tag was used, the same thing would occur.

Any idea what is causing this?

Disable them all, all except crucial i.e BP, checking the page validation shows a un-recoverable markup error that looks to be the fault of something facebook related (doesn’t surprise me!)

Thanks for the response. I disabled everything except for BP, but the issue did not go away. I don’t have any plugins related to Facebook installed, either, so I’m not sure why that was the case. (And I also don’t believe the guy who wrote the theme has included any native compatibility with Facebook.)

There’s another issue with this theme related to excerpts with markup. I am using them on the “live” site just fine (http://www.jrpgclub.com) but the new theme does some absolutely crazy stuff with them: http://jrpgclub.com/beta/kinos-journey-vocabulary-list/

I’m e-mailing him now to try to get some answers, but if anyone has any ideas in the meantime it would be greatly appreciated.

All we can advise is to change to twentytwelve theme if issue corrects itself as it will then it’s a theme issue and it will be down to the author to provide some solution really. BP theme compatibility is a simple process requiring just that a regular WP conforming page.php exists.

Can you tell me how to check the page validation? I have kinda figured out how to fix the issue, but the solution I found is neither elegant, and I’ve just discovered that it’s still occurring on other pages. I’d like to check out all of the errors and see what’s really going on.
