I want my users to be able to create posts and pages

I would like my site’s users to be able to create posts and pages on my site.

I like BuddyPress’s structure for having people register and log in.

Hi folks, what do I need to add to my site to allow registered users to have the ability to post, and to choose the categories that their post will appear in?

Or should I be using another plugin entirely? I’ve also installed “User Role Editor” and “Users Ultra Lite”, but I haven’t tried them out yet, as I don’t want to confuse the issue.

I’m new to BuddyPress, and I’m not sure that it’s actually what I need. My site is at http://caterpillar.ink, if that helps.

    Thanks
    David

I think I’ve answered my own query by also installing a plugin called “User Submitted Posts”. That seems to add the functionality I’m after.

A separate question… on my main menu bar, is it possible for me to have a “Hi, %name%”, or “Welcome back %name%” … so as to personalise the screen, and remind the user that they’re logged in?

    Thanks…

If you consider all your users to have the same ability to publish, you can simply setup WP’s default role from subscriber to author. You don’t need a plugin to do that. To allow categories, search on WP codex, as this has nothing to do with the fact you use BuddyPress.

For customizing the Howdy menu item, use this custom snipet or take one of the existing plugin to do that.
