install bbpress – no dropdown to select admin

I had the integration going pretty well with the beta version but now trying a new install with 1.0 has me troubled.

The instructions say “chose admin from the drop down” on the bbpress install, but I haven’t seen a drop down, and if I type in admin, I get an error.

There was another post that said don’t do integration in the install (like the instructions say) but do it in the bbpress backend. I tried that too and less than stellar results.

I know more thorough instructions will be available someday, but for now, any thoughts?

    Thanks!

    Matt

type in a unique username for it, when i installed bbpress, i chose ‘forumadmin’. you can easily make your ‘admin’ username the keymaster for it later, when its setup.

Thanks Chris. I just did that and the install seemed good but now whenever I try to go to the forum I get

    ” Oh dear!

    bbPress is already installed.

Perhaps you meant to run the upgrade script instead?”

Its weird. I did not get stuck at this part with the beta version. I am going to start over again to see what happens.

is BB v1.0 rc 3 the correct one to be using?

I just checked what bbpress I was using when I was having success during the beta stage and it was the alpha 6 version.

Should I still be using this version?

Why is no one else seeming to have this problem?

I have tried RC 1 and 2 with no luck.

What I am really looking for is a version that matches the install instructions.

    What are others doing?

    Matt-

Have you looked at the Trent’s detailed instructions here? His instructions work with bbPress RC1.

Also, is you’re not using BP v1.0.1, it may be a good idea to upgrade.

bbpress RC2 and RC3 integration is broke. See: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=3199

Neither one of us in that thread had any success. I’m particularly proud of my discovery of the true nature of the relationship between bp/wpmu/bbpress when it comes to integrating the three:

Gluons and quarks! That made me laugh. You are a strange, charmed, down to earth, up to the challenge, top of your game, and never on the bottom of a list.

    Yes, that is quark humor.

Haha. I do have a certain ‘flavor’ don’t I? Ok, we can stop this now.
