If I understand you correctly, you are trying to set up a forum from the wordpress admin.
Whearas you need to go to the ‘groups’ section on your site and add a new group from there – Then you can add a forum to the group in the same process….
Okay, I guess I just don’t really know what to do. I looked through the documentation, but didn’t see anything beyond installation. Is there some sort of step-by-step I could look at somewhere? I don’t even know where to find the ‘groups’ section you mentioned. Sorry for being a dunce, but this is the first time I have ever done anything with BP so I know literally zero about it.
Thanks again for the help.
It’s pretty self explanatory, if you read the directions carefully. Once you install buddypress, you must choose between an existing installation, or a new installation, and it will do it for you, and you are done. Read this also: https://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-site-administration/buddypress-forum/ for extra help on setting it up.
The docs don’t answer the question. How do you make new groups? Where is this forum?
https://codex.buddypress.org/home/
The docs are fairly thorough, and assuming you’ve correctly installed buddypress and bbPress forum integration, the forums should appear along with all the other newly created pages – i.e. – example.com/forum, example.com/groups. If these pages are not appearing in your navigation, your wordpress theme may not be compatible with wordpress. In this case you could switch to a theme designed for BP or work to make your current theme compatible.
Also, make sure these components are enabled in the buddypress admin dashboard settings. If you feel you’ve done everything correctly, you should be able to create new groups by going to yoursite.com/groups and clicking the new group button that appears at the top of the page.
Hello!, I would like to know how to add some groups to the forum tag, as you did in this forum:
