Building a new site, can’t get register email to send – tried sending to a yahoo and gmail address with no luck.

Searched around for 101 on emailing, not much luck. Read other posts and tried some things with no luck.

Do I need to do something basic like register my own email etc.

PS my site is hosted via Amazon (aws).

BuddyPress basically uses the wordpress email system, it uses a sender address of wordpress@yoursite.com. Some email providers block this generic address. Mine doesn’t, if you like I could register on your site and see if it works for me?

By the way, I recommend you use BP Registration Options to moderate any user signups.

No email received, are you running any other plugins?

Try deactivating all but BuddyPress, see if that fixes it

Welp, no luck. I tried and didn’t get anything. You can try again, I deleted all attempted user signups.

Maybe it’s something on my end with amazon. I am going to try to get an email plugin and see if that helps me.

Just to be sure I successfully registered on my test system, I got the email fine. I tried again on yours but no joy.

Thx for the help. Looks like Amazon is a little tricky. I found a good source that led me to a plugin for aws: https://wpforms.com/how-to-set-up-wordpress-smtp-using-amazon-ses/
could you give it another try and see if it works now. I think this is the only option for Buddypress and amazon, surprised this hasn’t come up before. But I could easily be missing something…

Seems like it’s not working. What happens if you deactivate BuddyPress and just use the wordpress registration?
