Lengthening the Status Update and the Excerpt in the Activity Stream?

    WordPress 3.2.1 Multisite
    BuddyPress 1.5 (upgraded from 1.2)

    Is there a file and a line that contains the number of characters that are printed out in a Status Update in the Activity Stream? I’d like to be able to see and read more of the updates without having to hit the “read more” link.

    If so where is it, please?

    I’m hardcoding, so the file name and location would be great!

    I won’t be upgrading to the upcoming new version of buddypress for quite some time, so I’d like to find this line of code asap.
