Manual vs. SimpleScipts install

Hello. We are running BP on a site that was installed via SimpleScripts. The documentation warns of ‘numerous’ problems arising from this. Can you elaborate on what those ‘numerous’ issues might be? Also, we are struggling because this means we may need to re-install wp manually on a live site. (without blowing the whole thing up). http://www.gmtatennis.org

I posted some of the issues in response to your same question 3 weeks ago at https://buddypress.org/support/topic/new-to-buddypress-3/ For other issues, you could search via Google. Are you looking for some justification in using SimpleScipts instead?

We were unable to find directions in the WP Codex – specifically – for re-installing WP manually on a live site. I am not doing it myself but delegated that task to another. Hence, the confusion. Q: Does doing a live re-install mean that you are going to copy over all your content, theme & plugin files? Sounds dangerous!

You will need to backup database, download wp-content folder, delete everything including database, create fresh database, install wordpress and buddypress manually, upload the contents of your downloaded wp-contents folder, import saved database backup.
