Member Directory Count & Search Problem

I read how to add a last_activity meta_key to users that I imported so they will show up in the member directory by default, whether they have logged in or not.

The problem is that the Search function still does not work for those users, and their count is not added to the total Member Directory count at the top of the list in the title.

I know the meta_key is recorded because the users no longer say, “Never active.” And, I see the timestamp in the wp table for those added users. Does anyone know what other information is being used to add user data to the Search function and directory total count?

The search function should now find these users. As far as I know, the only thing that separates an active user from an inactive user is last_activity.

@Henry Wright: What do you mean, “should now find these users?” Did it work differently in the past? I am using the latest 2.7.0 version. On my site, when a user logs in for the first time, their information is searchable and the total number of members at the top is increased by one. If I manually add a last_activity meta_key to a user who has not logged in yet, they are not searchable and they are not included in the total number of members at the top.

I would like some confirmation that this is expected behavior, before I search for a workaround. Otherwise, if someone could confirm that this is not expected behavior, then it might indicate a bug and a ticket can be placed for a possible fix. Thoughts?

    Thanks for your help!

I think it is how it works but i could be wrong.
