Member page not working – ”Sorry, no members were found.”

I have a problem that i have been searching for a solution this past few weeks. I have not found anything substantial, and there are very few topics about this problem.

    The Problem:
Member pages not working at all. All i get is “Sorry, no members were found.”
At the frontpage (the activity stream) i have no number after Members, and it just shows Members ().
You can request friends, you however cannot accept that request.

    Troubleshooting:
    * The problem persist regardless of theme.
    * You can view member profiles without a problem. So there looks like there is no user-related problem (?)
    * The “No members found” is there regardless of filter at the member page.
    * You can send messages between users.
    * I have deactivated every plugin except Buddypress, but no difference.

Any ideas on how to tackle the problem?

the answer to the sorry no members were found maybe the reason i was getting it. i have resolved it. well tech support help at my vps provider. i had a plugin called ratings- widget that was giving an error message internally , that faulty plugin filled my memory with error messages. so they cleared some stuff, i deactivated it and there u go. so you may have a similar issue with a plugin.
