[Resolved] Membermouse

I am testing membermouse with BP. They use a the email address the member registers with to create the account using their own registration form. However if a member registers my testing reveals that by using the email address as user name it would make it easy for spammers to capture emails from my site by looking at the URL for members. Anyone have any ideas how I may be able to solve this?

    Here is the screen shot.

    Thanks,

If you’re in a testing phase, this URL issue should be a blocker/negative point and a good reason, at least, to test another solution. (MyCred plugin is one if you’re cibling paid membership).

I won’t spend time to solve this at your place. If you followed exactly the plugin install recomendation, with finally the described issue out of the box, 2 solutions: it is intended like this or you did something wrong.

But it is a premium plugin, (ok, with 30 days free trial period). Don’t expect much help from the BP community. You have to ask the plugin support if you absolutely want to use that plugin.

Anyway, thank you for your experience sharing. 😉

Thanks Dan for the feedback. But I have tested over 10 membership plugins. ALL of them have pros and cons mostly around payment gateways and all kinds of other things and BP obviously being one of then.

Membermouse is one of the few that is seriously thought out with one of the exceptions I pointed out with BP. But to be honest almost every Membership pluign worth its weight I have tested has this same problem with BP. The ones that worked well with BP in this area lacked in so many other areas.

Building a membership site and not choosing the right membership plugin can be desastorious down the road as this site owner even points out http://shawnhesketh.com/what-would-you-do-differently/

But I will also have a look at the one you recommended

I have pretty much made my choice on MemberMouse because its one of the few products out there that actually have a long list of 7 figure scaable systems back by a team of people that built large-scaled systems for companies like Walmart and others.

Most don’t know if an when you decide your membership plugin is not longer cutting it you loose all the paid members you have worked hard to get because the payment gateways the way they talk to the membership plugins are not interchangeable.

So I am just looking for some simple ways to solve what I was asking so i can move forward.

But I will also have a look at the one you recommended

I found the solution Membermouse does work with Buddypress using their signup form only. But by using an additional field for registration [MM_Form_Field name=’username’]
