Members can’t register themselves

Hi, I recently uploaded buddypress onto my wordpress 3.0.1 and am using version buddypress 1.2.5.2.
My problem – When people try to sign up from the home page they put in their details which appear to be accepted but when they try to log in the details don’t register and the member avatar does not show. But if I go into the admin for WP I can see the user there. If I delete the user and manually add then they can log in. Do you know why?

8. Do you have any plugins other than BuddyPress installed and activated? If so, which ones? YAhoo media player, social media widget, sexy bookmarks
9. Are you using the standard BuddyPress themes or customized themes?
10. Have you modified the core files in any way? – NO
11. Do you have any custom functions in bp-custom.php? – NOT SURE
12. If running bbPress, which version? Or did your BuddyPress install come with a copy of bbPress built-in?
13. Please provide a list of any errors in your server’s log files. HOW?
14. Which company provides your hosting? 1.com.my
15. Is your server running Windows, or if Linux; Apache, nginx or something else? – NOT SURE
