Moved WP/BP site. Member pages now not found?

Moved and renamed our small private site to new host via export/import of sql and ftp.
Everything gold except that the members page seems to have been damaged.
WP 4.4.2 & BP 2.4.3. My theme is twenty sixteen.

http://www.example.com/members/ works as expected.
http://www.example.com/members/username/profile/ also works as expected.

http://www.example.com/members/username/ does not work at all and gives this message:
“Oops! That page can’t be found. It looks like nothing was found at this location”
That is the page that is linked when click a name or picture of a user.

Grateful for any hints on what to fix. I am out of ideas…

most likely permalinks setting… check, change, check, change again… check.

if not then check your buddypress tab settings to see that associated pages are set…

when you exported your sql did you check the box for “add drop table” or whatever?

Thanx for taking the time to help djsteveb,

I have tried all you suggested before and more than once.
Apart from the“add drop table” bit which I am not sure I know what that is.
But everything else, and all the Permalinks for posts are working just fine.
Its just this one url that is broken..
as I wrote in opening post, just the “http://www.example.com/members/userslug/

Figured my problem out, after some debugging.

I had this in my wp-config (not sure why):
define( ‘BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT’, ‘preferred_default_tab’ );
deleting this line or replacing it with;
define( ‘BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT’, ‘activity’ );
fixed my problem.
