Multisite Installations

    Hello i am Buddypress Newbie,

I’m just wondering if i have two sites on a wordpress multisite network,

    1. Primary not Buddy Press standard wordpress site
    2. Private employees only buddy press site

As you can see i only want buddy press to be installed on site 2
Is there a way of doing this with sub-domains? Or will this require a second installation of wordpress
    on a second domain?

Could this be made as simple as possible

    Kind Regards,

    Shane

    Hi Shane,
You can install buddypress on secondary blog and use it as private network.

Here are some details on configuring BuddyPress on secondary network
    https://codex.buddypress.org/users/getting-started/install-buddypress-on-a-secondary-blog/

and you can use any of the wordpress privacy plugin to make this network private.
    Hope that helps.

    Hi Brajesh,

Would you do this as a sub directory or a sub domain?
And is there an easy step by step guide somewhere?

    Cheers
    Shane

    Hi Shane
If you ask my personal choice, I will go with subdirectory. But it does not make much difference.

Since you are just planning to install buddypress, you just need to follow the first 2 steps and not worry about the other steps in that guide.

I haven’t seen a better guide on thing thing though.

    Hi Shane,
by secondary blog I mean a sub blog that you create using the wordpress multisite.

You don’t need to install multiple wordpress. Just install wordpress Multisite.
here are more details on enabling WordPress multisite.

I’m still having issues with this as my main site is still taking buddy press settings along with my private, such as the admin bar and if i privatize one the public site also requires a login,

    Help!
